All entries must be completed in the National Association of Teachers of Singing official website at nats.org where the NATS AUDITIONS REGISTRATION portal lives.  Only members who are current in their National and Kansas City Chapter membership dues will be able to enter the registration portal.  When you reach the 'AuditionWare' page, you will be prompted to enter student information and weblinks.

AUDITIONS CHECKLIST:

  • On the Dashboard, locate the link to "Miscellaneous Forms/Info"  Many of the links below can also be found in this online repository. The answers to most of your questions can be found there.  

  • Download and make use of the Fillable-PDF Student Entry Worksheet in order to collect all the information you need to enter your students in the auditions. Remember that minor-aged students must have parent/guardian info as well.

  • Read the "Video Submission Instructions"  and send a copy to your students and pianists. 

  • THE DEADLINE TO REGISTER YOURSELF AND YOUR STUDENTS FOR THE AUDITIONS IS JANUARY 16, 2023:

  • Enter data for each student for each of their categories, including repertoire (titles, composers, etc.). You may upload videos as well but videos aren’t due until march 7. 

  • Confirm your availability to adjudicate January 28, 2023 (Members must either serve as judges, arrange for a qualified substitute judge, OR pay $75 in order for their students to be eligible to compete.)

  • Verify that your mailing address is correct and update it, if necessary (you can do this by looking in the membership directory at www.nats.org). Award certificates and prizes will be mailed to the TEACHER'S address on file if they are accidentally left behind on site.

  • Pay for teacher registration($30) and student entries ($20 per audition/ $30 for Advanced Divisions) through the registration system using a credit card.

  • Educate your students and pianists about US Copyright Law, especially as it applies to NATS auditions, and remind them to look for and respond to an email from Auditionware through which they will acknowledge the NATS Copyright Policy.  (Remember to check your spam folders)

  • Like "KC Metro NATS" on Facebook, and encourage your students to do so...announcements will be on our Facebook page, and here on our website.

  • Prepare to adjudicate the auditions:

  • ATTEND MANDATORY JUDGES' MEETING AT KU SATURDAY January 28, 2023 9:00 AM

  • View and familiarize yourself with the Classical Adjudication Rubric and Music Theater Adjudication Rubric.  You must score preliminary rounds according to these rubrics.

  • Watch the 18-minute NATS ADJUDICATOR TRAINING VIDEO on YouTube.

  • For additional adjudication preparation, members can view Allen Henderson's presentation from the 2016 national conference, entitled, The Art of Being A Great Adjudicator, or Matt Edwards' 46-minute training video, Tips for adjudicating music theater categories of the NATS Student Auditions.
